Our Mission

The Skylight Theatre Company is committed to developing and producing new works, introducing plays new to Los Angeles - and educating and nurturing the artists that create them.

We offer local writers a home to test and refine their work through our programs and before a live audience, giving voice to their experiences. We are a vibrant and expanding family of artists whose passion is telling original stories that speak to today's audience while creating dynamic theatre that resonates within our city. Our goal is to establish Los Angeles as a center of innovation in the American Theatre.

Our play development program, INKubator, provides playwrights a place to work and be seen through a variety of programs - PlayLab, LAb Works, the Play Reading Series, INK Works and SoloMojo. In 2014 we're introducing unAUTHORized, a play writing program for ages 18 to 25.

We’ve presented over 500 theatre productions, many award winning and played host to musicians, poets, actors and dancers.

A wide range of actors and directors have worked here including George Clooney, James Cromwell, Richard Dreyfuss, Jenna Elfman, John Fleck, Tovah Feldshuh, Miguel Ferrer, Jorge Garcia, John Glover, Beth Grant, Roxanne Hart, Helen Hunt, Justina Machado, Gene Reynolds, Doris Roberts, William Schallert, Cotter Smith, Ray Stricklyn, Patrick Swayze, Jeffrey Tambor and Robert Walden are just a few.
