Told with humor and word play, ritual, drums and dance, an 18 year-old African American is compelled to find the spirit of his ancestor.  DONTRELL, WHO KISSED THE SEA is a present-day hero’s quest exploring the lengths and depths we must go to redeem history’s wrongs.

DONTRELL, WHO KISSED THE SEA is a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere.  Skylight is presenting the first of the five productions which include the Phoenix Theatre in Indianapolis, Theater Alliance in Washington D.C., Oregon Contemporary Theater in Eugene, and Cleveland Public Theatre in Ohio.

Journey through the convoluted etiquette of prison subculture through the eyes of an unlikely tour guide.

Leah Joki penned her memoirs, "From Julliard to Jail," after two decades working in the penal system. In this solo performance,  Leah gives us a compassionate glimpse into complex characters that reflect humanity in   
                                            all its forms, from humorous to utterly horrifying.
