5 QUESTIONS FOR WRITER, Z.N. Lupetin

1. What inspired you to become a writer? Z.N. Lupetin, resident writer, PlayLab - Skylight Theatre

Freshman year of high school in Chicago I had my first creative writing class - it was taught by a lady who worked in the principal's office - she wasn't a teacher but she decided this one time to get us fidgety 14 year olds to try making up new characters and telling a story. I was hooked. I couldn't stop. Mrs. Moratto whenever you are, you rock!

2. What's the one piece of advice that you were given that's really stuck with you?

Don't be afraid to fail. A lot.

3. What's your favorite thing about writing for the theater?

The electric energy in a room when a scene is really working - it's like a new universe is opening up before your eyes.

4. What's the best play you've seen in the last year (and where)?

Rajiv Joseph's newest play at South Coast Rep. He is so damn good.

5. Where's your favorite place to go in L.A?

The beach!
