A THOROUGHLY ENTERTAINING and informative 70 minutes – TheatreSpoken Here

RECOMMENDED!
An IMPORTANT SHOW TO SEE, not just because it is a FINELY EXECUTED one-woman performance but also because of the way Joki's show addresses with such HUMANITY the industrial prison complex in this country

Prison Boxing

written and performed by Leah Joki
directed by Linda Grinde

solo performance

Synopsis: Leah Joki spent 18 years in prison . . . not as a criminal . . . as a teacher.  Now, she brings to life the complex characters she encountered in her two decades teaching in the California Penal System. Prison Boxing is a personal reflection on the prison system subculture from humorous to utterly horrifying. A journey that asks the questions: "Why did I choose to do that in my life?" "Would I do it over again?"

Venue: Skylight Theatre / SkyLAB
